Elvis was the 5499th shelter dog painting from the 5500 wall of compassion. He had no name, just a number, and was dumped at the shelter and put in a cage with a dog who bit his paw. After separating them, they refused to give Elvis medical help and his paw got worse. Instead of calling in a medic for a minor injury, the pound director took out a gun and shot him twice in the head.
Elvis was especially painful for me to paint. It fills me with despair, knowing his life was so coldly extinguished, instead of him being adopted into a loving home.
